Tips for a Smooth Sales Process

Things to Consider to Make the Process as Smooth as Possible
  • Members planning to sell their Newport Cluster property should contact Reston Association to verify compliance with NCA Design Standards and DRB Guidelines before listing it for sale. It is not unusual to find that some alterations do not comply with Reston Association's requirements. Any items in non-compliance can be rectified ahead of time, removing possible delays during the sales process.
  • Before providing its Disclosure Packet, Reston Association must complete a "Disclosure Inspection" * of the exterior of the property and record any violations in a letter, which will be sent to you. Please view this short video for further details: RA Disclosure Packet Video
  • Typically, covenants violations must be resolved before the sale can be closed.
  • You also must request a Newport Cluster Association Disclosure Packet, which is separate from the one Reston Association prepares. You should email [email protected] with your request.

* Reston Association's inspections process is described in Design Review & Covenants Administration Resolution 12. This document provides valuable information on requirements for both design and maintenance compliance, as administered by Reston Association.
